Five fire engines and an ambulance are reported to be in attendance at an incident in Broadstairs this evening (January 8).
The emergency services are responding to a fire at a home in Rectory Road after being called at 6.34pm.

A neighbour has reported apparent issues with the flames reigniting. They said: “They have the hose on it again and we can hear them smashing windows. Firefighters are going in with breathing apparatus.”
It is thought the occupant was not home at the time of the fire but their whereabouts is not yet known. This is yet to be confirmed.
A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “KFRS crews have been mobilised to a fire in three storey terrace house in Rectory Road, Broadstairs.
“Firefighters using breathing apparatus, hose reel and main jets have been fighting the fire and now have it under control and are checking for hot spots and any fire spread.”
Sadly, a firefighter (against all the rules) told me there had been a fatality in the blaze. This was confirmed at about 3.00 this morning (Tues) by an operative of the company sent around to check for gas leaks. He said he had been told there had been one fatality. Not something any us want to witness in our neighbourhood. I am sure the couple who live there will be in our thoughts whatever.
