Margate fire crews festive donation – and how to get a gift delivery from firefighters on Christmas Day

Fire crew's gift delivery to Rainbow Ward

Margate firefighters have donated gifts to children on Rainbow Ward for their Christmas party next week.

The gifts were bought with funds raised through Christmas collections last year.

The station also provided donations of books from Save the Children as well as soft toys from Keel Toys and The Flamingo Arcade to comfort and entertain patients.

A station spokesperson said “We are very pleased to be able to offer these gifts to the ward again as we have done for many years. We are able to do this thanks to the generosity of the public. Last year we raised over £3900 collecting at various locations around Thanet in the week leading up to Christmas”.

The money was split between the Firefighters Charity which helps physically and mentally rehabilitate firefighters who have suffered ill health, and a float that local causes can apply to for donations of items or funding. In 2017 the station released donations to local Scouts, Beach within Reach, Macmillan and You Can Cancer Cancer charities, Pilgrims Hospice, The Archie Page Fund and the Thanet Over Fifties Forum to name a few.

Any causes looking for support in the new year are encouraged to contact the station on 01622 692121 ext 6448 and leave your contact details.

Crews will again be out collecting around Thanet, including Westwood Cross, Tesco Extra, Bunnings and Dreamland, from December 17 and would welcome anything you can afford dropped in their collecting buckets!
