Brilliant Birchington primary Christmas fair raises £1,400

Birchington primary fair

Christmas magic was in the air when Birchington Primary School held its annual festive fair.

Pupils and families were treated to a variety of stalls offering festive themed-goodies from decorated homemade cakes and clothes, to sweets, toys and jewellery.

Santa Claus was in his grotto helped by his trusty elf, and they chatted to children about their hopes for what December 25 may bring. A roundabout ride with colourful lights lit up the playground.

Musical choral and dance performances were enjoyed in a packed out hall, and face painting, the candy floss stall, the tombola, raffle, games and hot dog and refreshments stalls were also popular.

The school’s family liaison officer Lesley Green said: “Once again we had a cracking Christmas fair that really had something for everyone. There were lots of happy faces and a real strong community spirit, which was lovely.

“We raised £1400 for the Parent Teacher Association. Big thanks go to everyone who worked so hard to set the fair up, decorate the two halls and the grotto, and thanks also to everyone who came along and supported us.

“It was a lovely start to the festive season and we wish everyone a happy Christmas.”
