The world of learning at Chilton Primary School in Ramsgate is opening up for pupils and families through a special internet blog site.
Since November pupils have been invited to write blogs on the specially-designed safe and secure site that was created for primary schools.
It gives pupils the chance to comment on all aspects of lessons, topics, learning, and the range of other activities and events that take place at Chilton.
Deputy Head of School Natalie Barrow said: “Every year group has its own blog site that is carefully monitored.
“The children are really engaging with the experience and their blogs can also be seen by their families and friends and the local community.
“We are proud of how we work and play at Chilton, and the blogs open up our world of learning to people who may otherwise not get a chance to see how we tick.”
Year 5 pupils Izzy, Jack and Mary are regular bloggers who love commenting on their online site.
Izzy said: “It is really interesting to be able to use the blog to look back on what we have been doing during class; and it also means we get a chance to see what other pupils in school have been doing, which is fun.”
Jack added: “Our parents can have a quick look at the blogs to see what we are doing in school. I think that is really useful and they enjoy being able to share what we are doing in class.”
Mary said: “There are also blogs about activities like drama and music, which I like to read about. Sometimes our teachers take pictures or film of us at work and put them in the blog as well, which is great “
Miss Barrow added: “Our children are growing up in a world of fast-evolving technology that covers most aspects of all our lives. A controlled blog such as this is a safe way for them to express themselves online and to keep their families involved with their learning.”
