Birchington residents honoured with civic awards

Karen Everest of The Shelters Group and Birchington Anti Litter group recieves an award from Cllr Neville Hudson

Birchington Parish Council held its first Civic Awards event on Friday (September 15).

BPC wanted to recognise people in the village that go above and beyond the call of duty. This included businesses that support village activities and give sponsorship generously when asked.

Winners were chosen by parish councillors for this first event but in future years BPC will ask residents to nominate recipients.

BPC thanked those that supported a “great evening. “

All money raised on the night will go to BPC’s chairman Cllr Neville Hudson’s chosen charity which is The Birchington Shelters Appeal.

Parish councillor Phil Fellows said: “A village like ours cannot operate without volunteers and its only right they get recognised and rewarded by the parish council.”
