Three men have been arrested after a reported assault at Margate train station on Saturday night (September 2).
A 51-year-old man was taken to hospital following the attack. His injuries are not thought to be serious.
A witness said the attack happened after water was thrown by a group onto passers-by. The initial call to police reported that there were girls or women in the group of attackers but no females were arrested in connection with the assault.
British Transport Police were called to the scene at 9.45pm. They were also notified of another male, who had stepped in give medical help to the victim, being assaulted. This man is thought to be in his 70s.
Transport police officers interviewed people in premises above the former Flag and Whistle pub.
A spokesman said: “Three men, aged 59, 24 and 21, from Margate, were arrested on suspicion of affray and assaulting a person causing ABH. They have been released under investigation as enquiries continue.”
The incident was the second to be dealt with by transport police on Saturday. Officers were also called just before 1am to a report of a woman assaulted by a group of people outside the station.
She was taken to hospital with injuries which are not thought to have been serious.
No one has been arrested in connection with this incident yet and BTP continues to investigate.
