Margate mosque welcomes the community for Eid celebration

The celebration

The mosque in Margate opened its doors to the community yesterday (September 3) to celebrate  Eid.

Idul adha (Eid) is a major festival in the Islamic calendar. The mosque welcomed people of all denominations and Raushan Ara, from Ramsgate, prepared food for the occasion.

Margate Central ward councillor Iris Johnston said: “ I am delighted the Imam has resumed these open events and Raushan brought lovely food for all of us. I heard people discuss how much we have in our lives that unites us and it was especially positive to hear the Imam and Rabbi talking about ‘one God’ and common experiences.

‘County Councillors Barry Lewis and Karen Constantine were also present and I know we all look forward to future events.”
