QEQM Rainbow Ward gets a boost from the Westgate United Services Club

Club members hand over the Rainbow Ward cheque

Westgate United Services Club has donated a fabulous £2,105 to the children’s Rainbow Ward at QEQM Hospital in Margate.

The money was raised at the annual chairman’s day in July. Fun on the day included Martin Collins the Magician, Night Fever video and karaoke disco, a man vs food challenge, darts and children’s entertainment including a chance to hold some reptiles and face painting.

Everyone involved donated their time and energy for free to help raise the brilliant donation amount.

Jayne Monaghan, from Rainbow Ward, was at the presentation to receive the cheque.

The club, at 23 St Mildreds Road,  has entertainment every weekend  and themed nights, children’s parties and charity days.

The official opening day was on July 22, 1921. It was started by Westgate men that had returned from World War One. In 1926  the club moved from the site of a shop to the new, and current, premises which had been a rifle range.
