
A man who assaulted three police officers and a Special Constable and racially abused another officer has appeared in court.
Billy Mulcahy was sentenced on 8 August at Thanet Magistrates’ Court.
He pleaded guilty to racially aggravated harassment, two counts of common assault and three counts of assaulting a police officer.
On 14 June the 19-year-old, of an unknown address, assaulted a man at a service station in Northdown Road, Margate. He then used racially aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a police officer and assaulted three other police officers and a special constable at Margate Police Station.
Magistrates sentenced Mulcahy to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and gave him a three month curfew to remain at an address in Coronation Crescent, Margate, between 7pm and 7am daily.
The curfew runs until 7 November 2017. He must also pay £350 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Nathan Malcolm Schwingen was sentenced on 8 August at Thanet Magistrates’ Court.
He pleaded guilty to burglary.
On 25 June the 28-year-old, of Northdown Road, Margate, broke into a storage facility in Queens Parade, Margate, and stole professional audio equipment worth £2,500.
Magistrates sentenced Schwingen to 60 days in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.
Darryl Brent was sentenced on 8 August at Thanet Magistrates’ Court.
He pleaded guilty to drink driving.
On 19 July, the 21-year-old, of Bellevue Road, Ramsgate, drove a Yamaha YBR 125 in Canterbury Road, Westgate, and gave a breath test of 89 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Magistrates banned Brent from driving for 18 months. He must also pay a £200 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
