Today (July 23) is the last day of the statutory consultation on plans to reopen Manston airport.
RiverOak Strategic Partners urges anyone who has not yet responded, and has views they would like to send about the proposals, to submit a consultation feedback form – either online, by email or by post –so that they can report to the Planning Inspectorate the views of the widest section of the regional community as possible and how they intend to address them.
RiverOak Strategic Partners is proposing to reopen Manston airport as an air freight hub with associated business aviation and passenger services, which they say will create almost 30,000 jobs by the airport’s 20th year of operation.
Consultation has been running since June 12 prior to the submission of an application for a Development Consent Order to the Planning Inspectorate. This consultation will fulfil a number of requirements set out in the Planning Act 2008,
The consultation closes at 11.59pm today. To date, there have been more than 1,200 feedback forms submitted and 1,900 people attended consultation events held across Thanet during June and early July.
Residents can still submit their feedback on the plans as follows:
- online at rsp.co.uk; or
- by email to email@example.com;
Further information, copies of consultation documents and a link to the feedback form can be found at www.rsp.co.uk.
Many people are responding to the consultation but do not trust RSP to correctly record and collate their comments. As a consequence they are also copying their comments to the planning inspectorate, which is responsible for administering any Development Consent Order which is ever submitted. You cab read the comments which people have made. Many are complaining that the consultation has been inadequate because those living in the worst affected areas weren’t informed about it.
