A dog care and boarding business will be trialling an innovative new scheme at Westwood Cross this month.
The Muttley Crew will create a pet stop where shoppers can leave their dogs in a doggie creche while they go shopping.
The aim is to stop people leaving dogs in hot cars, potentially a killer, and to give their pets some company and fun while owners browse the shopping centre stores.
The Muttley Crew was established in 2014 for day care and boarding. It has been so successful that there are now branches across east Kent and staff have expanded services to offer dog walking, pet taxis, house sitting and home visits for pets!
And it’s not just dogs, the crew also care for other pets including cats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, reptiles and birds.
There are several Thanet Muttley Crew branches in Manston, Margate, Westwood, Nethercourt and Westbrook.
The crew will be at Westwood Cross from July 24-30 on a trial basis but are hoping to make the pet stop a permanent feature.
A spokesman said: “Dogs die in hot cars. The Muttley Crew Pet Stop is where canine first aid trained, fully insured and fun loving staff are offering a new doggie creche for dogs to come and keep cool and have fun in safety whilst you shop till you drop or just have a coffee.”
The price is £2 per hour.
