A further consultation session will be held by the company proposing to reopen Manston airport as a cargo hub.
RiverOak Strategic Partners’ is proposing to reopen Manston Airport as an air freight hub with associated business aviation and passenger services.
The consultation fulfils a number of requirements set out in the Planning Act 2008, allowing RiverOak to refine its proposals before submitting an application for a Development Consent Order to the Planning Inspectorate.
Nine public consultation events have already taken place with a further one added to take place in Birchington today, July 3, at The Centre in Alpha Road from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
Now a session has also been proposed for Westgate, provisionally for Monday, July 17 at 7pm, with a venue to be decided.
The other remaining session is at the Village Hall, Chislet, on Thursday, July 6 at 7pm
Copies of all consultation documents are available from http://rsp.co.uk/statutory-consultation/ and at these public libraries during their normal opening hours:
Birchington, Broadstairs, Cliftonville, Deal, Herne Bay, Margate, Minster-in-Thanet, Newington, Ramsgate, Sandwich and Westgate.
As the full Preliminary Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) is a very large document, it will only be available in full at Deal, Herne Bay and Margate libraries. A non-technical summary will be available at all libraries, at the seven consultation events and on the RSP website, as part of an Overview Report.
SHP Plans
The site is owned by Stone Hill Park which has submitted a masterplan to Thanet council for 2,500 homes; an advanced manufacturing focused business park; sports and recreational facilities, with the former runway becoming the focal point for a network of parkland, trails and outdoor space, and a ‘heritage hub’ at the site.
Stone Hill Park says it expects its planning application for the site to be examined by Thanet council later this year.
