Emergency services called to the scene of suspected ‘stabbing’ in Ramsgate

The air ambulance has landed in Newington Photo Ben Bray

Emergency services are currently at the scene of an incident in Ramsgate.

The police helicopter is reported to be above Newington and an air ambulance has landed close to the school. Bush Avenue/ St John’s Avenue has been taped off.

Five police cars and two ambulances are at the scene and officers are reported to be stationed outside the Co-op. One witness says forensic tents have now been put up.

A Kent air ambulance spokesman confirmed two helicopters have been called to the scene.

At 5.13pm the Kent air ambulance was called out followed by the Redhill helicopter at 5.58pm.

Both were called out to an ‘assault’ but there are no further details as yet.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called to reports of a serious altercation in Wentworth Drive, Ramsgate, at 4.50pm.

“Officers are at the scene along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service, no arrests have been made and enquiries into the incident are on-going.”
