Food delivery giant Just Eat has confirmed that a Ramsgate takeaway at the centre of a rape case had been removed from its site before pressure from the Britain First group.
The owner of 555 Pizza and Kebab, in Northwood Road, Tamin Rahani, 37, Shershah Muslimvar, 20, from Canterbury, Rafiullah Hamidy, 24, of no fixed address, and a teenager from Ashford who can’t be named for legal reasons, are currently standing trial for the multiple rape of a 16-year-old girl last September.
The girl is said to have been preyed on when she walked along Northwood Road after drinking with friends and asking directions from a group of men.
Britain First has released two videos confronting workers at the 555 shop and another from outside Canterbury Crown Court. It has been claimed pressure from the group forced Just Eat to remove the 555 listing.
But a spokesman for Just Eat said the listing was taken down as soon as the company was made aware of the allegations and prior to any action by the Far-Right group.
He added: “We were deeply saddened to hear of this case. Just Eat has not been involved with the investigation but has removed the restaurant from the platform while the trial is ongoing. Given the continued legal case it would be inappropriate for us to comment further.”
