A walking football tournament in memory of a former fireman and goalkeeper for Ramsgate and Margate football clubs is due to be held at the Baypoint Club in Sandwich.
The event will be played on Sunday, May 14 and all proceeds from entrance fees and a raffle will go to Cancer Research UK.
The annual event, organised by Alan Austin and the Bay City Strollers, will also feature a fire engine, barbecue, DJ and stalls.
The game is in memory of Dave Bambridge who was a local goalkeeper for Ramsgate FC and Margate FC and a firefighter. He sadly passed away aged just 35 in 2009 after a four-year battle with leukaemia.
Dave’s family agreed to the naming of a new trophy in his memory which is awarded to the winners of the event.
