Travellers are back on the green at Dane Valley, just a week after another group were moved on by Thanet council.

Seven caravans were spotted on the site yesterday (April 12). The previous group tidied the area before leaving and a ward councillor has said he hopes this will be the case for the new group.

A report has been made to Thanet council which will begin the process of serving notice.

The authority will need to obtain a ‘direction to leave’ order from magistrates’ court.

A Thanet council spokesman said: “Our Community Safety team are aware of the encampment and intend to serve notice today in order to minimise any potential disruption this may cause to residents or the public.”

Crown Prosecution Service guidelines say: “Failure to obey a direction to leave or returning to the land as a trespasser within three months is an offence.”
