Janet Snook – local Neighbourhood Watch volunteer who makes a difference in her local Dane Valley street reporting crime and helping neighbours.

And the winner by a clear majority was Maurice Morris.

The 84 year old  has lived in Margate all his life and can tell many tales of days gone by. Maurice was visibly moved to tears as he was handed  his  trophy and a fantastic hamper from Stacey of Tesco’s Northdown Road.

Ward Cllr Gary Hillman said: “It was wonderful springing this surprise on a well-loved Margate resident. I seek to bring the Margate community together with a hub of events such as this.”
