Seventy craft which were skippered from Ostend to Ramsgate on Thursday have started the return journey to Belgium.

The boats were competing in the North Sea Regatta, which is part of the Belgium North Sea Championship organised jointly by the Royal North Sea Yacht Club and the Royal Temple Yacht Club in Ramsgate.

The return race started at 6am for the smaller boats and 6.20am for the larger ones.

It will take about nine hours to complete the return sailing.

Joining them were two yachts from the Ramsgate’s Royal Temple Yacht Club, Cobra owned by the Rear Commodore Sail and Principessa owned by the Commodore with the advice Commodore onboard.

The race hut team was a joint venture of the Ostend and Ramsgate and Broadstairs yacht clubs.
