Hundreds sign petition protesting at looming Ramsgate dental practice closure

More than 520 people have signed a petition protesting against the closure of Church Hill Dental Practice in Ramsgate next March.

Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust’s dental services are commissioned to provide care at the practice, which has some 8,000 people on the books.

But the contract ends on March 31, 2018, and will not be renewed. It will mean patients need to find a new dentist and staff are facing possible redundancy.

The practice run in Sandwich will continue.

Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust’s dental services say they are working to find alternative dentist care  and are writing to all Church Hill patients to advise them of the situation.

Dental Services Clinical Director for East Kent Michelle Forbes said: “We were commissioned to provide dental services at Churchill Dental Practice by NHS England and we will continue to do this until 31 March 2018 – the end of our five-year contract.

“We are working with NHS England to make sure patients have alternative local provision.  We will, of course, continue to provide safe and effective care for all patients using our service at Church Hill dental practice until the end of March.”
