A Margate landlord says a history of supporting live music is the reason his pub has been chosen to host auditions for ITV’s The Voice.

The hit talent show, which will be in its seventh season for the 2018 series, approached The Britannia in Fort Hill to be its Margate venue for singing hopefuls next month.

Landlord Paul Rollins said: “The Britannia is proud to have been approached by ITV to host the Margate auditions for The Voice.

“The Britannia was chosen because of its history of supporting live music and it is regarded as a fantastic place to gig in Thanet.

“We are having a fabulous reaction to this announcement with artists booking their slot on Sunday May 7. The auditions start at 5pm and must be pre-booked with either myself or Horace.

“We are all very excited to be part of yet another event that puts Margate and The Britannia firmly on the map.”
