A299 road closed due to motorbike accident

The A299 was closed this afternoon (March 26) both ways between A256 Haine Road and Canterbury Road West due to an accident involving a motorbike.

Police, ambulance and the air ambulance were called to the scene.

Traffic was at a standstill through Pegwell Bay and Cliffsend.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police attended a serious road traffic collision involving a motorbike on the A299 at Cliffsend.

“Officers were called to the scene at 1.51pm and the road was closed between the Sevenscore roundabout and the Lord of the Manor roundabout while the emergency services deal with the incident.”

Police said the A299 was likely to be closed between the Sevenscore and Lord of the Manor roundabouts until at least 7pm.

It eventually reopened at 8.45pm.
