Trains through Westgate are currently running on a 5miles per hour speed restriction after an object was thrown on the track today (April 13).
The incident meant a loss of power to the track at about midday preventing trains running from Margate to Herne Bay.
Replacement buses were used while response staff worked to restore power and assess damage to the track.
The speed restriction has been imposed until further inspections can take place.
This means trains are being delayed by approximately 5-10 minutes from Birchington to Margate.

You appear to blame young people who are in education, why is that?
Clare, have you actually been down westgate station when the feral youths are hanging out, smoking, drinking, smoking weed and abusing the hell out of members of the public? Maybe if you had been, you wouldn’t be so quick to jump to the defense of 11-16 year olds engaged in egregiously horrendous ASB, most of which, aren’t of exam age yet.
Shame they didn’t throw themselves on there instead.
