The earthy primeval sounds of drumming echoed around St Gregory’s Primary in Margate.
The school vibrated with rhythm and energy during an energetic African drumming workshop for children from Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
As part of the percussion fun learning session delivered by Rich Rhythms, pupils had the opportunity to play djembes and explore the vibrant beats and traditions of the music.
It gave them the chance to experience first-hand the power of rhythm and the teamwork needed to weave the patterns of the hand drums together and around the beat.
Music lead is teacher Jordan Gilbert. He explained: “At St. Gregory’s, we are passionate about providing children with enriching musical experiences and ensuring they engage with music from around the world.
“With a growing number of pupils taking up instrument lessons, the school is committed to fostering a love of music and creativity in every child.
“The visit from Rich Rhythms was a fantastic way to inspire our young musicians and celebrate the diversity of musical traditions.
“The sound of drumming filled the school with excitement, and the children left the workshop feeling inspired and empowered by their new skills.”
Head Teacher Dave Walker said: “There was so much energy and enjoyment experienced by our children and they became engrossed with the rhythms of the drums. Music is an important part of life at our school and we treasure opportunities to enable our children to explore their creativity.”
