Three fire engines have been at the scene of a shed fire that spread to fencing and neighbouring properties in Garlinge this morning (September 2).
Crews were called to Brooke Avenue at 7.45am. South East Coast Ambulance Service was also called to the scene.
Four people were checked by paramedics and one other was taken to hospital with minor burns.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a shed alight in Brooke Avenue, Margate.
“Control operators sent three fire engines to the scene, where the fire had spread to fencing and neighbouring properties.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using hose reel jets and main jets.
“Four people were checked over at the scene by SECAmb paramedics, and one other person was taken to hospital as a precaution for minor burns.
“The cause of the fire is not yet known.”
Live at the back of here. Was in my garden having coffee and listening to the birds. Could hear some young kids mucking about in the adjoining gardens pre 730am and then tons of screaming and shouting about 745ish shortly followed by a monster of a fire with flames reaching about 30-40ft high. I know several of the elderly gents along that road have metal and woodworking shops in their sheds. Hope it wasn’t improperly stored chemicals/solvents. Not sure if it’s the shed on fire House or another, but residents regularly burns waste too and end up with us having to shut windows.
