An independent Turkish-inspired café and restaurant has opened in Broadstairs.
No 23 in Albion Street brings a modern Turkish and Mediterranean influence to Broadstairs while embracing the local British community and the multicultural character of the area.
Owners Özgür Sargın and Canan Yalcin say the aim is to ‘bring cultures together.’
He said: “Our vision is to create a welcoming community space where Broadstairs residents, British and Turkish communities, and people from different cultural backgrounds can come together over food, coffee and conversation.
“We hope NO 23 will become a place where people can discover Turkish food and hospitality, meet new people and feel part of the local community.
The official opening took place yesterday (August 28) with Broadstairs mayor Cllr George Rusiecki, accompanied by Cllr Jill Bayford, cutting the ribbon.
Özgür said: “At NO 23, we offer something a little different — from delicious pancakes, waffles and French toast to our special waffle burgers, baked sweet potato and loaded hash browns.
“Enjoy a selection of Turkish Gözleme, Börek, Mediterranean and Anglo-Turkish flavours, protein options and much more.”
NO 23 also offers smoothies, milkshakes and alcoholic cocktails and amazing floral teas – these are created by a bundle of dried tea leaves wrapped around one or more dried flowers making a bulb. When steeped, the bundle expands and unfurls in a process that emulates a blooming flower, and the flowers inside emerge as the centrepiece.
The business uses independent British farms, local dairies, and trusted international spice importers to provide items such as organic sourdough baked daily in Broadstairs and free-range eggs sourced from heritage breed chickens.
The signature dish for No 23 is a custom 50/50 Wagyu and Angus beef blend burger.
The Turkish Anatolia peninsula is found in the venue’s signature Raki cocktail collection and traditional desserts, including Aegean Mojito, and cheese-filled Künefe cooked to order.

Looks great! Much as I love Birchington where I live, Broadstairs is THE place to go for restaurants in Thanet (off-season, it is the only one of the main towns that we visit with any regularity).
