A man has been charged with murder following a double stabbing in Ramsgate on Sunday (August 23) where a man died and another was injured.
Police have charged 21 year old Kieran O’Rourke, of Seafield Mews, Ramsgate, with murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, attempted murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Kent Police was called to reports of a man with a knife near the harbour area at around 4.47am on Sunday 23 August.
Officers attended the scene where two men, one in Harbour Street and one in Harbour Parade, had suffered stab wounds. They were taken to a local hospital for medical attention.
Ramsgate man Ashley Jones, 52, was later pronounced dead. Flowers have been left in Harbour Street by Ashley’s family and friends.
The second victim, a 48 year old taxi driver found in Harbour Parade, has since been released from hospital.
As part of the investigation, a 45 year old man was identified as a third victim, although he did not sustain any injuries.
An arrest was made shortly after the incident.
The Crown Prosecution Service has now authorised the charges of murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, attempted murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place, against 21 year old Kieran O’Rourke, of Seafield Mews, Ramsgate.
He will appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court today ( Wednesday 26 August).
UPDATE: Kieran O’Rourke has been remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.
