Staff at Callis Grange Nursery and Infant School in Broadstairs say they were ‘absolutely blown away’ by the incredible effort, creativity and enthusiasm shown in a Year 1 Seaside Home projects.
The children spent lots of time working alongside their families to create some fantastic pieces of work.
Every project demonstrated not only imagination but also the knowledge children have developed throughout their Seaside topic.
Callis Grange classrooms were transformed into a seaside gallery, filled with amazing creations including:
- Detailed seaside and underwater dioramas
- Fantastic sea creatures made from recycled materials
- Colourful underwater scenes and habitats
- Beautiful shell artwork and sculptures
- Lighthouse models and beach huts
- Traditional Punch and Judy illustrations
- Treasure collections and beach investigations
- Thought-provoking projects about protecting our beaches from litter
- Interesting seaside fact files and research about marine life
Year 1 Senior Leader Ki Fox said: “It was wonderful to see so many different materials being used, from cardboard, paint and tissue paper to shells, sand, pipe cleaners, recycled tubes, natural treasures collected from the beach and even handmade moving models.
“Many children also included fascinating facts about sea creatures such as octopuses, sharks, seahorses and turtles, showing just how much they have learned through their own independent research.
“The quality of the work was exceptional, and every child was incredibly proud to share their project with their classmates. They enjoyed explaining how they made their models, discussing the interesting facts they had discovered and answering questions from their friends.
“A huge thank you goes to all our families for supporting the children at home. Your encouragement, time and creativity have helped make this homework project such a memorable experience.”
