UPDATE: Ruby has now been ‘safely located’ and is with family.
A missing teenage girl from Margate has been sighted in Leicester as Kent Police officers continue extensive work to bring her home.
Ruby Morris, who is 15, was reported missing having last been seen in the Margate at around 2.30pm on Saturday 27 June. She’s described as white and around 5ft tall with long, dark brown hair and green eyes. She has both sides of her nose pierced.
On Tuesday 14 July, Ruby was seen in social media posts which appear to show her in Leicester city centre the previous day. She may be wearing a cropped black vest top, a short black skirt and white socks with black fluffy sliders.
Ruby, who is known to use the rail network, is suspected to be travelling with a woman who is known to her, described as white, around 5ft 8in tall and of very slim build, with short auburn hair that is cropped very short at the sides.
Extensive enquiries have been ongoing since Ruby was reported missing, including following up on reports of potential sightings, searching areas to where she is known to travel, reviewing CCTV, analysing mobile phone data and speaking with her friends and associates.
Detective Superintendent Keith Taylor from Kent Police said: “We have committed significant resources to finding Ruby, who we believe is travelling without her phone or bank card and is vulnerable.
“We have obtained a social media video which appears to show Ruby in the centre of Leicester. We have not heard from her directly to confirm she is safe. We are determined to bring this young girl home to her family, and urge anyone who has seen her, or who has information relating to her whereabouts, to contact us immediately.”

I don’t think 15 year olds are able to take on a bedsit and pay rent these days Sparkling as they have no legal income. It’s a different world you’re referring to. The danger here is a young person who could be very vulnerable to being preyed on by the wrong sort. We’ve seen too many Rotherham’s and County Lines stories to know that. A young person on a big runaway adventure likely has no idea of what danger they’re really in. Speaking from experience.
Leicester is not a safe place for a vulnerable child, I have a child there at University and she said she gets cleared at all the time by men from a certain culture. I had to tell her to leave the local swimming pool last week as she was terrified of the male behaviour towards her.
