Year 6 pupils at Cliftonville Primary and Pre-School have enjoyed an engaging and informative careers morning finding out about some of the possible careers available to them.
The event saw 14 guests lining the hall to be interviewed by the children about their job. A huge range of professions were showcased including journalism, television and criminology.
Volunteers also brought a variety of props and resources to bring their work to life. The children were particularly enthralled by the life-size model of a horse’s skull which accompanied an equine dental technician and loved their mini personal training session!
The children had a very enjoyable morning chatting to people from walks of life that they may never have encountered before and asked insightful questions about their career journeys and roles.
The event was organised by assistant headteacher Julie Mayhew and teaching assistant Mandie Dale and was timed as part of the Year 6’s activity week.
Year 5 and 6 phase leader Andy Pringle said: “The morning was a great success and it was lovely to see the children interacting with our guests so confidently and to be so excited by their future potential. Aspiration and community unity are two of our school values and they were really encapsulated by the event.”
Lily, a year 6 pupil, said: “I really enjoyed finding out about all the different jobs. I especially like the vet physiotherapist because it sounds fun.”
Corey added: “It was very interesting and I’d love to do it again! It really inspired me and my favourite was the author.”
The school thanked all the supportive parents and friends and family of staff members who generously volunteered their time.
