Join the Powell-Cotton Museum for their much-loved Teddy Bears’ Picnic Family Hub session…
These free drop-in sessions are open to all parents, carers and children under 5.
Come along at any time (from 11am – 2pm) and enjoy a relaxed day of play, discovery and outdoor fun.
Bring your favourite teddy and join in for stories, activities, creative play and plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy a picnic.
There’ll be space to run around in the Gardens, visit the Museum, and take part in hands-on activities inspired by the collections.
As many activities will take place outdoors, please come prepared for the weather with sun cream, hats, drinks and anything else your little ones may need to stay comfortable. Don’t forget to bring your Family Hub Card for £1 entry. If you don’t have one yet, you can collect one on the day.

Her practice embraces the language of play and the radical potential of innocence as a means of navigating the complexities of adulthood.
Drawing upon archetypes, deities and symbolic forms, Mullins reflects on feminine strength, fertility and the cyclical nature of existence. Vessels, flowers and organic forms emerge as emblems of holding and releasing, grief and renewal, death and rebirth.
The Royal College of Art graduate and tutor has previously had work published in Vogue and displayed alongside Grayson Perry at The Bristol Museum and Art Gallery.

Swift Weekend 2026
26th June – 28th June, Bon Volks Studio Margate
A three-day programme of free activities celebrating the remarkable birds that return to Margate’s skies each summer after their migration from Africa.
Inspired by Margate’s local swift colony and Bon Volks‘ ongoing Swift Project, the weekend brings together creativity, conservation and community through workshops, family activities, a film screening, a swift talk, music, community action and opportunities to learn more about swifts and local biodiversity.
Many of the weekend’s workshops and creative activities are led by Bon Volks artists and makers.
The programme also includes a biodiversity walk exploring the importance of green corridors in highly urbanised areas, living pathways that help wildlife move, thrive and connect. The walk begins at Dane Valley Woods, passes through Windmill Community Gardens and continues across Dane Park, inviting participants to consider how these green threads stitch our neighbourhood together and what we can do to strengthen them.
Throughout the weekend, residents will be invited to participate in community swift surveys across Margate, including a special dawn survey at 5am, helping to observe local swift populations and contribute to conservation efforts.
All events are free to attend, although some activities have limited capacity and require advance booking.

Armed Forces Day Parade
In Ramsgate on Saturday 27 June residents and visitors will gather to celebrate Armed Forces Day with a parade and drumhead service. This event is an opportunity to show support and appreciation for the dedicated members of the Armed Forces community.
The parade will commence at 10:40am outside the Sailors Church on Military Road, following the route:

- Harbour Parade
- Turning Circle
At 11am, attendees are invited to join the traditional Drumhead Service, held at the Turning Circle, where community members can pay tribute to those who serve.
Following the service, the parade will continue along Harbour Parade at 11:40am, culminating at approximately noon at the end of Harbour Parade.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend, watch the procession, and participate in the ceremony. Show your support by waving Union flags and joining in the community’s collective salute to our armed forces.

The session explores plants not only as imagery, but as drawing tools, dye sources, memory holders, and living materials that carry stories.
After time to forage for materials in the garden, participants will be introduced to a collection of plant-based pigments and inks, while also collaboratively creating a simple dye vat using foraged and naturally sourced materials. Participants will experiment freely with painting, staining, imprinting, and layering botanical marks onto fabric.

Created in partnership with Angela’s of Margate, these intimate gatherings celebrate the very best of the season, with produce grown just steps away in the gardens themselves.
Perfect for groups of friends, family celebrations or long-overdue get-togethers, Late Lunches in Quex Garden are designed to be shared. Gather your favourite people and enjoy a relaxed summer afternoon of exceptional food, conversation and beautiful surroundings in one of Kent’s most unique hidden spaces.
Before lunch, guests will be invited take a stroll around the walled garden and glasshouses where Head Gardener Sue Harris and Chef Rob Cooper will be on hand to answer your questions. This is a chance to see what is currently being harvested, and understand how the menu has been shaped in direct response to the growing season. The selection of produce is a collaboration between Sue and Rob, led by what is at its peak in the garden on the day.
To complement your meal, an optional curated wine flight is available.

Join Nicci at Happy Reading Children’s Bookshop in St Peters to celebrate this rhyming picture book about everything water with a curious raindrop!
From the author of smash hit, Little Glow’ (Katie Sahota and Christine Cuddihy), a new rhyming celebration of everything ‘water’: the water cycle, its variety of uses, treatment processes and why it’s too important to waste, all told through the eyes of an empathetic and curious raindrop, Little Flow.
This week’s creative activity will be celebrating water and the adorable Little Flow with special thanks to publisher, Owlet Press for the activity sheets!
The bookshop is on the first floor, accessed via a flight of stairs.
Children will sit for the reading, then move to a play/craft table for activities. All materials are provided and age-appropriate.
Adults may stay for the event (limited seating available) or relax with a coffee and pastry downstairs in Staple.

Floating Frequencies at the Italianate Glasshouse

Surrounded by nature and the quiet presence of this 19th-century architectural gem, this outdoor session invites you to slow down, rest, and come back to yourself.
Guided by Eleanor, a multi-disciplinary wellness practitioner, the sound bath weaves together crystal quartz bowls, a gong, shruti, frame drums, chimes, and a range of percussion and meditative instruments to settle the nervous system and quiet the mind.
No experience needed – this session is open to all / Cushioned mats and eye pillows are provided.
