Priory Infant School’s Eco Team have been joining the monthly community litter picks with Ramsgate Town Council, with support from operative Maxine Morgan and Cllr Raushan Ara.
Geography Lead Emily Bartlett, who guides Priory’s Eco Team, arranged to join the litter picks to highlight the importance of looking after our environment and supporting the local community.
Emily said: “We want to inspire our pupils to learn about the world around them and the importance of taking care of it. They play a vital part in looking after our precious planet for generations to come.”
The Eco Team ambassadors, aged from 5 – 7 years old, are the voices for the rest of the school, empowering others to make eco-friendly choices. Together they have been completing eco-initiatives whilst working towards the Eco Schools Award.
Headteacher Clare Sellwood said: “We’re very proud of our Eco Team’s efforts in school and the local community—they’re making a real difference through their environmental work and litter picks”
The Eco Team are keen to complete regular litter picks around the local community and would also like the rest of the school to join in too.
If you would like to join in with the community litter picks in Ramsgate Town, they happen on the last Thursday of every month, meeting in front of Halifax at 10.30am.
Well done kids.Perhaps you could pick up the 70 to100 bags of dog poo that has been lying on the Ramsgate promenade on the way to Broadstairs.Just past all the graffitied shelters.I phoned it in to TDC 7 weeks ago and reported it 4 weeks ago to two Councillors.TDC stop sending emails about your GREEN policies.You have none.
Yes I have seen the dog poo bags also seen rats scurrying around in it.Perhaps Thanet wants Huntavirus seeing as it trending at present.

Why is this nonsense allowed? Convincing kids that anything they do will make any difference when China, USA, Russia, India etc carry on mass polluting & they & most other countries at the climate conferences just use it as a way to sell oil?
Same thing with the no plastic in Thanet lot-the UK is under 1% of the pollution, Thanet is so negligible that like Talk TV’s ratings you couldn’t even record it, other than virtue signalling it makes zero difference, if you don’t have any plan to actually tackle the real problem then stop your pronouncements. We are already past the point of no return due to the greed of millionaires & billionaires who can never have enough money-anything now is just delaying it a bit & Thanet could have no plastic, nothing dumped on the pavement & recycle everything & it still wouldn’t make one iota of difference to the planet.
Yes, by all means promote recycling-even though a lot of it ends up rotting in landfills overseas in countries like Malaysia & Turkey-because we don’t have the facilities to cope with it/Megacorps want to save a few bob & putting rubbish in bins etc-though if they haven’t been taught that by their parents by the time they start school, then it speaks volumes for those parents. Stop lying to the kids that they can save the planet-if an asteroid we can’t see or destroy hits doesn’t hit us first, then eventually the unfettered greed of the likes of BP will end it-that is the reality, teach it to them.
