Police are investigating after a man was assaulted by a group of youths in Ramsgate on Saturday (April 18).
Ramsgate’s security patrol staff from Probe security- operated through Marc One Security- were first on the scene and secured the safety of the victim until police arrived.
Kent Police officers attended at around 4.10pm but the group of up to 20 youths involved had left the scene.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 4.10pm to a disturbance involving a group of young people on King Street, Ramsgate. It was reported that a man was assaulted.
“Officers attended the scene where no injuries were reported. Those involved had left the scene before emergency services arrived.
“An investigation is ongoing and anyone with relevant information, who has not yet come forward, should contact Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting 46/61825/26.”
Ramsgate security staff from Probe are contracted by the town council and patrol daily on eight-hour shifts.
This month staff have helped with incidents including giving immediate first aid to a member of the public who had fallen and sustained a head injury; supported Kent Police during arrests following ongoing shoplifting and disorder, including the enforcement of banning orders, and de-escalated several incidents involving highly aggressive behaviour, street fighting and intoxicated individuals until police arrived.
The security patrols are in place to provide reassurance, deter anti‑social behaviour and support the town centre.

The youths who hang out by Iceland are a group of 10-14 year olds who want to be hardmen. So sad that their parents have no control of them, they have no positive male role models and are on a rapid downhill descent into a life of drugs and crime. The dodgiest of adults swarm around them like flies for obvious reasons. These lads are vulnerable and at serious risk of harm, but will most likely end up as perpetrators if something is not done to get them out of this mess. Sounds like it’s already escalating into that.

Clockwork Orange innit! A friend had his car door kicked in last weekend, when he was parked on Margate Road, Ramsgate, where he has parked safely for years until now!
Seems to be yet another advert for this lot from the council to justify their being hired. All of these things of course should be done by those paid to do it-town wardens, PCSO’s, store security & the police. So either the first three need to be fired & this lot made permanent, or we need to look at why they are all failing to do their jobs-including the police & are still being paid & taxpayer money being spent on this lot.
There haven’t been Town Wardens for at least 10 years. Do get with the times.
Oh yes-please excuse me, they call them community wardens now. Just like binmen are refuse operatives or waste collection officers.
Nope. Wrong again. TDC no longer employ that type of ‘Warden’. The role was deleted nearly 10 years ago.

So in the kcc elections who did you vote for? Reform? If so maybe suggest to them rather than put up council taxes to hive themselves a nice car park and above inflation allowance raises that the money should be spent on the police and PCSOs as that where the money comes from.
