The owners of Ramsgate construction company have launched a project dedicated to helping individuals and families with additional needs by undertaking house adaptations and raising vital funds.
Dave Ashworth and dad-of-two Danny Wilkins have set up Dumpton Park Projects Ltd – Foundations for Life — and will be helped by their eight employees and 15 subcontractors.
Dad-of-five Dave says this creates “an army ready to make a difference,” who will focus on delivering garden rooms, extensions, loft conversions, and adapted kitchens and bathrooms — alongside raising money for essential equipment and items that can significantly improve quality of life.
Each project will be delivered at cost, ensuring that every pound raised goes as far as possible.
Funding will come from a combination of government grants, corporate sponsorship, and community-led fundraising events, including charity nights, colour runs, and seasonal events.
Dave and his team bring not only their skills and experience, but also a proven track record of successfully raising money for those in need through previous community and autism awareness initiatives.
Dave previously ran Ashworth’s Autism Awareness – a club for children aged 2-7 years and their parents and carers – to provide shared experiences, advice and fun.
The 37-year-old said: “This is about combining our hearts, energy, youth and skills. Me and my team have spent years building homes and spaces for clients and now we want to use that same drive to help people who truly need it.
“It’s not just about building — it’s about raising funds, supporting families, and giving people something they might not otherwise have access to.
“It’s never been about the money for me but more the passion, obviously I have to pay my bills but other than that I enjoy what I do… it’s not a job to me, it’s life.
“We’ve got a strong team around us and instead of that energy just being used day to day and then go to waste at weekends, we want to channel it into something bigger — something with purpose and meaning. The team don’t want to be partying and sitting in pubs, they want to hit goals and feel appreciated.
“There’s a real push in us to help those in need, and the reward isn’t financial — it’s the feeling of making a real difference and seeing it happen.”
Jessica’s Journey
Foundations for Life has already started its first project — Jessica’s Journey — a campaign to raise funds for a specialist mobility wheelchair for a four-year-old girl living with cerebral palsy. The wheelchair will provide greater independence, mobility, and freedom.
Jessica’s Journey is just the first of many projects planned under the Foundations for Life initiative, with future builds set to support families, schools, and community organisations across Thanet and the wider Kent area.
Each project will be documented and shared, ensuring full transparency and showing the impact that can be achieved when local businesses and communities come together.
