A truck was pulled in by a large police presence in Pysons Road, Ramsgate, today (April 15).
Patrols stopped the driver this afternoon and the vehicle was seized in connection with a suspected traffic offence. It’s understood a truck was being used for ‘unauthorised’ pothole repairs.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Patrols stopped a suspicious vehicle in Pysons Road, at around 1.45pm on Wednesday 15 April. A vehicle has been seized in relation to a suspected road traffic offence.
“Officers remain at the scene whilst enquiries are ongoing.”
Kent Police Rural officers responded to the reports of suspicious activity, involving men pressure-selling tarmac in Ramsgate.
The team attended the scene and detained three males.
The Rural team says while no fraud offences were identified on this occasion, the vehicle involved was seized and the driver was reported for multiple traffic offences.
Same happened in the early hours in Newington Rd area last night.
WHAT!! Are they stopping someone filling in the Potholes, that’s crazy. Or were they planting flowers in them? Either way that’s more than the councils doing about them.
Think you will find it is more likely to be the usual suspects offering cheap prices for driveways. pothole repairs etc & then with menaces charging the mostly elderly people they target a fortune after a bodge job & nicking the lead off their roof, than kind hearted citizens going around randomly doing road repairs free of charge.
Even if it is some Robin Hood type it is illegal-if you don’t do it properly you can risk injury or death to road users & further damage to the road & if caught you are liable in any lawsuit. This is why the councils have specialist teams to do it & then an inspector comes round & if he isn’t satisfied with the job another team have to fix it.
Someone needs to fix them. Total madness.
So let me understand this,someone is filling potholes of there own back…and they’ve been arrested ,hiw funny ,there fixing the streets out there in pocket,and it’s wrong.you can’t write this @#@# .
We don’t know if that is is the case & if it is it is illegal.
The people who do this either to con people-usually the elderly out of money, or the ‘patriot’ types who hang flags off lampposts & paint them on roundabouts illegally/or well meaning, but frustrated at the council individuals often use inferior materials & have no idea what they are doing-they not only risk damaging the road to a much greater extent, but also causing accidents & fatalities to drivers & pedestrians-for which they are liable & can be fined or sent to prison.
The teams that do it have their work inspected, if the inspector is not happy with their work then another team have to come round to fix the issues-I saw this several years back when a team had spent weeks working on a road, the inspector came round after work had finished & shook his head in disbelief at a certain section-unsurprisingly done by a bunch of noisy young hooligan type guys jabbering about the pub, football, women etc, he was on his phone quickly voicing his displeasure & another team of older men were there quickly to remedy the issues.
I hope there is an update to this story. I would like to understand what these people were actually doing and any background to their motivation? I have never come across this before, and I have engaged with subcontractors doing civils work on the carriageway, in my day job.

If you remember Rod Stewart did this a few years ago when he was unhappy with the potholes in the village where he lives and instead he turned the story into a positive one about him where he paid for the potholes to be repaired and the national media covered the story

And it was later confirmed his work was totally sub-standard & it was eventually repaired properly as part of planned works anyway. Alright for him-he can easily afford any damages from lawsuits, encouraging the general public who can’t to do it & risk lives was highly irresponsible of him. The old lush is still moaning about local roads apparently.
Kent police finally making sure the real criminals are locked away. Those vigilantes filling pot holes. The British police is in such a state 😂

Got nothing else better to do than arrest someone trying to do good but again that’s police for ya.
It is against the law for any unqualified person to do it. Whether for profit, or as a Good Samaritan type.
Lots of things are against the law like shoplifting for example and the police seem incapable of doing anything about that.
Pretty sure shoplifters are still being arrested & in many cases charged & prosecuted.
I’m going to fix some holes. This is what you get when those who should don’t. I will look out on socials to see who else is doing their part.

So. They weren’t arrested for “… a traffic offence…”
They were arrested and their property confiscated because they dared to perform a public service for which they were not contracted or authorised to do by The Establishment? Their only offence is embarrassing Kent County Council and His Majesty’s Government. How much taxpayer’s money did this police operation cost?
These folk should be given a medal for public service.
Meanwhile, the usual cartel contractors are all around the borough with their holes in the roads at public expense, disrupting the flow of traffic and local businesses and nauseum. We can all see who the real bad guys are here.

I went to Romania last year. They know how to build a road. 40°C in the summer. -30°C in the winter. With a much larger proportion of freight traffic than we have. Roads as deep and well made as the Romans made.
Bravo to those who took the repairs into their own hands. In Britain, government is the problem, not the solution.
