Fun on two wheels and safety awareness saw children on the right road at St Nicholas CE Primary.
Groups from Years 1,2 and 3 enjoyed energetic scooter training sessions with Team Rubicon.
Wearing safety pads for knees and arms and a protective helmet, the young riders were kitted out to tackle a series of basic manoeuvres.
Head Teacher Taralee Kennedy said: “Our pupils enjoyed a fantastic time learning how to get the best out of riding a scooter.
“As well as learning balance and road awareness, they were taught about being aware of other riders and respecting them.
“There were smiles all around as they built confidence, developed new skills, and had so much fun. Even their cuddly classroom friend Attendance Ted couldn’t resist joining in.
“It was wonderful to see our school values in action, with our young riders showing great resilience as they kept trying and improving, and real courage as they challenged themselves to learn something new.
“A huge well done to everyone for their enthusiasm and brilliant effort—and a big thank you to Marc at Rubicon for making it such a great experience.”
The scooter sessions follow in the tyre tracks of bikeability cycle safety workshops held last year at St Nicholas.
Mrs Kennedy added: “Our aim is to ensure that our children have the best training possible in these simple but very important leisure activities – getting them started with the right skills and knowledge should give them a happy, safe and enjoyable road ahead.”
