A high energy and enthusiastic end of term programme brought a lively and successful school year to an end at St Nicholas at Wade Primary School.
Varied activities ensured that children were enjoying fun learning until the last day with a structured range of education and celebration.
Head Teacher Taralee Kennedy said: “This has been such a positive and progressive year for our pupils and staff and I thank them all for their enthusiasm and energy as we continue to develop and expand our provision at St Nicholas.
“We have shared moments of high achievement across the board from our excellent Ofsted inspection to a range of community events and environmental awards.
“Educational development is always key and each individual pupil is special to us – they are encouraged, challenged, cared for and nurtured, whatever their age or ability.”
Highlights among the hectic end of term included a music recital with the sound of piano, drums and recorders filling the air, while the choir sang beautifully. Toe-tapping tunes, big smiles and impressive performances demonstrated the children’s creative abilities and lots of dedication.
An open afternoon showcased pupils’ hard work and achievements from throughout the school year and they celebrated their educational adventures with their families with pride, excitement and confidence.
During the heat wave there was a special visitor – the ice cream van, with the school providing treats for all pupils with Attendance Ted handing out the ices.
Tears and laughter marked a fitting finale for Year 6 children who are heading for secondary education in September.
Mrs Kennedy said: “They arrived in true style from Quex farm—after enjoying a hearty breakfast—travelling in the back of a tractor. The rest of the school gave them a wonderful welcome, forming a human archway for them to walk through, setting the tone for a very special day.
“A beautiful graduation service was held at the church to say a heartfelt farewell, followed by the much-loved traditions of shirt signing and a BBQ lunch.
“We are enormously proud of each and every one of them. While we will miss them dearly, we know they are more than ready for the next chapter in their journey.”
