Couple Fiongal and Jamie Greenlaw-Meek, owners of The Wellness Foundry in Grange Road, Ramsgate, are believed to have been onboard an Air India flight that crashed moments after taking off at 1:38 PM IST today (June 12) from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
The London-bound flight was carrying 242 people. Among them were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian national, and seven Portuguese nationals.
Fiongal and Jamie Greenlaw-Meek, had been in the city and posted to social media from the airport shortly before the flight took off.
The couple offered psychic readings, tarot, Reiki and yoga from the London and new Ramsgate branches of their business.
They were due to be one of the venues for Ramsgate’s Pride event on Saturday (June 14).
A tribute from Ramsgate Pride says: “The Ramsgate Pride team are devastated at the loss of Jamie and Fiogan. We only heard from them earlier in the day and they were so excited to get back to take part in Pride and run their workshops throughout the day.
“Jamie was already thinking of ideas how he could expand on the wellbeing zone next year and we were so privileged to have such a lovely couple on the team who were so passionate and enthusiastic about Pride and the town of Ramsgate.
“They will be so very missed.
“Anybody attending on Saturday, we will be holding a minute’s silence after our march when we gather at the community stage outside Perico Lounge. We urge anybody who has been affected by this tragic incident to reach out.”
Some 200 people are believed to have lost their lives in the crash.
The UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has formally offered its assistance to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, India. In addition, the UK AAIB will have expert status in the Indian safety investigation.
