Four Chatham & Clarendon Grammar School students are celebrating after receiving offers from Oxford or Cambridge.
Logan Jenkins is to study politics, philosophy and economics at Queen’s College Oxford, Dhriti Patel is to read law at Girton College, Cambridge, Alanna Griffiths Ennew will be studying music at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge, and Madeleine Sales is study English literature at St John’s College, Cambridge.
Madeleine said: “At first I didn’t want to apply to Cambridge, but after doing the school’s online and face to face support programmes, I changed my mind – and I’m really glad that I did!”
Students across the whole sixth form have been getting in some very impressive offers, with Russell Group universities featuring very well too.
“We are very keen to support every student, so whether it’s university or an apprenticeship, we want students to realise their fullest potential and try our best to help them in that journey.
“I am always very proud of the futures our many students go on to and encourage everyone to look at our leavers’ destinations to get a flavour of how we help.” said Craig Lowis, Head of Sixth Form.
The school has seen students go on to study across the world, and this year is no different with some even applying for Ivy League universities in the US.
More students are also now applying for top end degree apprenticeships at Magic Circle Law firms and big corporations such as BAE Systems and Rolls Royce.
Mr Lowis added: “We see students join us from all over East Kent, and they are ambitious. We feel very fortunate in helping them to reach their goals.”
When a school has the pick of the crop isn’t this what you would expect ? Even with a poor Ofsted report.

It still takes a lot of studying and work to get results to get to a top universities.Good for them .Personally I don’t agree with grammar /others schools split ,but we are stuck with it ,I get a hint of envy by Mr x
Mr X – what a pathetic individual you are! These young people have had to commit to extensive studying to achieve these results. Then, along comes a clown like you attempting to decry them. Your world is very small and indeed I suspect a nasty one. And, what’s poor Ofsted report to do with these individuals achievement!
What are you on about FedupB. I haven’t played down the kids achievements. Just pointed out if a school takes the brightest and smartest kids from the area than shouldn’t this be the norm ?
It sort of sad that only 4 kids in Thanet got offers from an university.
I’m not in the slightest bit envious, just wish we had a better education system where more local kids could get offers of universities.

Four students from Chatham & Clarendon have been accepted by Oxford and Cambridge. Many other students from this school and others across Thanet will be going to other universities. And we have no idea if students from Dane Court, St Lawrence College have also been accepted by Oxbridge.
Many congrats to these four and all others who have studied hard to achieve exam results which will enable them to go on to university.
So why does this school feel the need to brag and other schools don’t?
I feel a bit of jealousy/ envy here Mr x,is it because they are young and you are old,or you didn’t do well at school,me thinks a bit of both

Congratulations to the four students – all that hard work will stand them in good stead when they move up a gear at university.
They are living proof that Chatham and Clarendon School is far from “Inadequate” when measured by the results of its core purpose – education.
That what, in the early years, are effectively separate boys and girls schools under the same management were providing “single-sex classes”, should not have come as a surprise to the inspectors. It was certainly not a secret .
It seems a hostile report, which plays down the excellence of the teaching and learning, whilst seizing on breaches of compliance with some sub sections of The 2010 Equality Act.
There are some failures of leadership and governance that need to be addressed, but none that relate directly to the quality of education.
Well done Alana, Dhriti, Logan, Madeleine and Chatham and Clarendon School(s).
