St Laurence CE Junior Academy has hosted a fantastic book fair and sponsored read in collaboration with Emma from Usborne Books.
The event was a huge success with the school community raising £400, with the generous support of Usborne Books adding 30% in free books for the school library
The event aimed to inspire a love of reading among students while giving them the chance to make a tangible contribution to their school’s literary resources. The sponsored read was a particular highlight, with children across the school diving into their favourite stories, discovering new ones, and raising funds through sponsorships from family and friends.
Two young readers, Bella and Mia, truly shone during the event. Their dedication to reading and fundraising was outstanding, and as a result, both were awarded a new book as a token of appreciation for their incredible efforts. Their enthusiasm inspired their peers to get involved.
Mrs Mountjoy, the school’s English lead, said: “It has been absolutely wonderful to see the children so excited about reading and contributing to our school library. The generosity of our families and the partnership with Usborne Books have made such a difference, and it’s heartwarming to see how much this has meant to our students.
“Bella and Mia’s efforts were particularly impressive, and I hope they inspire others to embrace the joy of reading!”
Thanks to the funds raised and Usborne’s support, St Laurence CE Junior Academy will soon be able to add a range of new titles to the library shelves, providing even more opportunities for students to engage with books and nurture their love of reading.
