1. As usual, only those who have cars or can afford expensive taxis can visit family more than a few miles away on Christmas Day.

   • Pretty rubbish bus service. Ramsgate versus Margate Football local Derby but no public transport even for the biggest match in Thanet for years. Any social recreational or even religious gathering will have to be within walking distance. “My way but certainly not the highway!”.

     • There were no buses last year either .
       They are allowed a Christmas too to spend with family etc if as you state rubbish buses then it’s simple ( don’t get on one ) use your legs and walk if you think like that .
       I’m sure fans of ramsgate will still get to the stadium .

2. Xmas eve after 9.00 pm: drinking & driving
   Xmas day: drinking & driving
   Boxing Day: drinking & driving
   New Year’s Day : drinking & driving
   Well done Stagecoach, public transport when most needed !

   • Bus drivers are allowed a Christmas too .
     Talk about selfish comment .

     • What about police, nurses, taxi drivers, care home workers, and a thousand other jobs that WE rely on 24/7… ALL of which are going to struggle to get to & from work?!

       • If its a fine day walk there, you always telling us that we are all so flabby and unhealthy, a brisk walk will be good exercise and create a healthy appetite for the Christmas meal.Do remember ‘no service’s the norm in quite a large part of Kent, thanks to Stagecoach and KCC.
         Personally, I Hooe the Christmas moths will have got to my festive jumper and that Christmas spirit enters into your humble abode, and removes the uncharitable humbug from your personality.

       • Erm the police have blue and yellow contrivances called patrol cars, and Taxi drivers,have err,taxis.
         Even the NHS has plans to ensure it has sufficient staff, and I don’t think they expect buses to run.Care homes will do the same.
         Have you ever worked over Christmas? For years I did for years and it wasn’t that bad.
         You do talk a lot of cobblers sometimes. Are you taking the right medication?

3. I’ll ignore the inane ramblings of the resident stalker, and make a few points:

   (a) I remember a time – certainly in London – when buses ran on Christmas day. So we’re getting an inferior service to what we once had.

   (b) Most European countries have buses on Christmas Day. So we’re getting an inferior service to other countries.

   (c) We live in a multi-faith country, where Christianity is a minority religion in some communities. So we’re denying other cultures the right to earn money driving.

4. Just noticed, The Loop no longer runs on Boxing Day! So people without cars can’t even get to the sales in Westwood Cross now.

     The loop is a bus there is no service Boxing Day so your comment shows you don’t read articles properly , article clearly states no service at all , same as last year . If your desperate to go out Boxing Day then walk or pay £20 for a taxi ( treble time ) remember too taxi drivers work when they want , bus drivers can’t . Bus drivers have family’s too so they are entitled to spend time with them too . Do u even drive because I think you have no idea what bus drivers have to go through day by day . If people want to go out Boxing Day I’m sure they will find an away to get to there destination.

     • The Loop certainly used to run boxing day. Up until 9 or 10 years ago (when I lived in Westbrook) I used to get it to Ramsgate for several years in a row, to join a boxing day rambling group, while my neighour went to Westwood Cross.

5. Good to see drivers and support staff getting quality time with their families over Christmas and New Year.

7. Additionally, “All TfL bus routes operate on Boxing Day with a Sunday service” this year (and pensioners get bus passes at 60!).

8. I will ignore the repitious Checksfield who hates to be contradicted.Yes, Stagecoach did run a Sunday service on Boxing day, but it went the way of all things.
   Backalong London Transport did run buses on Christmas day, but times change, even if some Birchingtonians don’t.
   As I said you can walk or hire a taxi.Shopping can be done almost anyday, so perhaps a bit of deferred gratification might be in order.

   • Buses DO run a Sunday Service on Boxing Day, including in 2024. If you’re going to stalk me, at least do some proper research.

9. This is really a mad world! Here is someone having an argument mainly with himself by the looks of it about a Christmas bus service. You really have got a bad case of the badenochs.
   Tell you what on YouTube there are loads of bus videos, so you won’t be without entertainment this yuletide.

10. Changing the subject again.What TFL are doing is immaterial.
    Only you can start a row about Christmas bus timetables.Your paranoia is getting the better of you.

    • You’re the one arguing, weirdo – without checking facts first. Strangely, no-one on here is suggesting that pub and shop workers (including garages) shouldn’t work on boxing day and new year’sday, but I guess that would inconvenience you selfish and lazy motorists too much.
