A person was taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford yesterday {November 25) following a two-car collision on the Thanet Way near the St Nicholas-at-Wade roundabout.
Emergency services attended the collision at around 4.50pm.
Thanet resident Ben Cooper and another motorist came to the aid of the man and then, while on the phone to emergency services, managed to flag down a passing ambulance.
Ben said: “It was definitely a shock and the first time I’ve seen an accident happen. I had slammed my brakes on, glad I did or I would have hit the side of the car as he bounced in to my lane.
“I patched him up and we waved the ambulance down whilst I was on the phone.”
A SECAMb spokesperson said: “One of our ambulance crews came across a collision on the A299 near Birchington at approximately 4.50pm yesterday (25 November). One person was assessed and treated before being taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.”
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 4.49pm on Monday 25 November to a report of a collision involving two cars.
“Officers and the South East Coast Ambulance service {SECAMb} attended the scene on the coastbound A299 Thanet Way near the St Nicholas at Wade roundabout.
“Patrols worked to clear the scene and assist with recovery.”
A second collision on the stretch of road is understood to have taken place at around 5.20pm. A woman reported injuries in that incident.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended a collision involving three vehicles after being called to the scene on the A299 at 5.06pm on Monday 25 November. Two people reportedly sustained minor injuries. Patrols assisted with vehicle recovery.”
