Police, including armed units and the National Police Air Service, carried out a search in Ramsgate today [November 1] after reports a woman was threatened by a man with a weapon.
A report was received at 11.10am and a search was carried out by the police helicopter and units on the ground. The man, who was reported to have left the scene in a car, was eventually found and arrested.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 11.10am on Friday 1 November to a report of a disturbance in Royal Crescent, Ramsgate in which threats were made to a woman by a man, who was believed to be in possession of a weapon. It was reported that the man left the scene by car.
“Officers, including armed units, attended and were supported by the National Police Air Service in a search of the area. A man was later arrested in the local area in connection with the incident and enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.”

15 + year’s of nothing but problems up there .it’s a dumping ground know for crack heads the police visit at least once a wk constantly being reported nothing ever done .and the place just stinks of weed . Good old tdc .and apart from that it’s falling apart . But still charge rents and high council tax tho .£15 a month for community cleaner supposededly every wk that might get done once a month plus also charged during lock down never got a refund tho ? .
But people pay a million pounds for a semi, and 3/4 million for a flat!

In Jan ‘23 a 2 bed flat sold for £735,000. And there is semi in Vale Square currently being marketed for £1,000,000.

I don’t know which Ramsgate you’re talking about, but it doesn’t resemble the one I live in.
Let’s be honest all the housing that’s being built is to house the unwanted london suburban unemployed or uninployable that come to thanet to deal , no jobs but our councils get the revenue from the government , would probably pay to build a prison. Thanets just a run down dumping ground.
Have you seen the development around the new Thanet Parkway station? I doubt that the unemployed or unemployable could afford to live there.

To you i might be . But to lots of others maybe not .lived in Ramsgate for 50 + yrs it’s declined so much . One of my daughters hated thanet so much she went to uni in whales and never came back because of how different people treat each other speak to each other .and the how run down thanet has become compared to Bangor . You tell me what thanets got to attract tourists. Um some rubbish art centre in margate everything else is shut . But your entitled to your comments

As a taxi driver in thanet i Can say that Ramsgate is Safe town…only people who are on the couch all day can think something else…come out and don’t just watch the news on your computer and don’t comment nonsense

BelMondo- you’re correct. Ramsgate is a safe town for most people, during daytime and for at least some of the night.
At least some of the night? What time do you recommend people go indoors to keep safe?
I’ve been out and about in Ramsgate twice today. Once this morning,to get the paper. Cheery greetings from various shop keepers. Nods from passers-by, walking their dogs. A bit of banter with the newsagent.
I went down again this evening. People about, mostly couples, heading for pubs and restaurants. Guys outside a pub cheerfully moved to one side to let me pass.
At no time did I feel threatened. There was no menace of hidden violence. Not once did I think that at any moment a knife fight might break out.
It was just an ordinary town, on a rather damp November.
There was a bit of trouble in Birchington yesterday, when a couple of young herberts were teasing the milkman’s horse. Fortunately, the local Bobby gave them a good clip ’round the earhole and threatened to tell their parents. Oh, and we have a new coalman.
Perhaps a Birchington style self imposed 8pm bedtime and horlicks curfew would do the trick
i think what is needed – if anyone can remember him , is a clint eastwood / dirty harry sort of approach , where a few people get wasted and blown away by a police officer toting a 44 magnum hand gun , i feel this would realy help the problems on thanets streets and doss houses
