MOS director brings Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical to the stage in Ramsgate

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be staged at the Granville Theatre, Ramsgate from Wednesday 27 to Saturday 30 November.

This will be the third musical directed for MOS by Steve Porter following on from his NODA award winning productions of Shrek the Musical and The Addams Family

Steve is Thanet born and bred and has been part of the amateur dramatics circuit for almost 20 years. He has performed in productions, including the role of, Emmet for MOS in Legally Blonde but has recently found a love for directing and has moved from treading the boards to focus on delivering his creative visions for MOS shows

In June 2022, Steve directed the hugely successful Shrek the Musical, the final MOS production at the Winter Gardens prior to its closure in August of that year

This was followed in June 2023 by The Addams Family at MOS’s new home at the Granville Theatre

In July 2023 Steve launched MOS’ ‘Pick a Note’ after realising the importance of giving people a platform to collaborate, sing and express themselves after this was taken away during the pandemic.

The group welcomes singers from all genres, abilities and backgrounds with a modern take on traditional choirs and has a more contemporary and experimental approach, focusing mainly on Acappella singing.

Steve is married to Brya who is co-choreographer for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory together with Amy Simpson. The production team being completed by Janice Regan as vocal coach.

Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be at the Granville Theatre, Ramsgate from Wednesday 27 to Saturday 30 November.

Evening performances 7:00 pm Saturday Matinee 2:00 pm

Adult Ticket £21, Concessions (65+) £19, Children (Under 16’s) £17 or a Family Ticket £70 admits 4 (2 Adults and 2 Children).
