Wantsum Productions has announced its March 2025 show as Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’.
Fans of the American rock band Green Day will enjoy songs such as ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams, ‘Holiday’ and ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends’ in the musical score.
The story follows three young people struggling to break away from their suburban lives and evolves as each of them follows a different pathway, with passionate affairs of the heart, drug dependence, physical and emotional hardship, and the changes these experiences bring.
Fundraising to put the show on includes a cabaret style performance on October 4th and 5th at the group’s performance venue, The Theatre Hall, Chatham and Clarendon Grammar School, Chatham Street, Ramsgate.
The evening will feature many of Thanet’s regular performers to sing solos and duets from films, TV and musicals accompanied by a live band. The second half will showcase well-known musicals as sets with specially created choreography, including Heathers, Les Miserables, Saturday Night Fever, Waitress and more.
Annalee Gibbons, creative director for Wantsum Productions, said: “We are delighted to be staging Movies, Musicals and More 3, as each time we’ve put on this style of show we’ve had incredible reactions from our audiences, and they’ve really appreciated all the hard work the cast put in to making it a wonderful night of entertainment.”
