Good performances from Thanet Athletics Club  at league competition

Thirteen athletes from Thanet Athletics Club ventured to Horsham on Sunday 14th July for their third league competition of the season.

Welcomed by a day sunshine and fun, the Thanet athletes provided good competition in their events against other clubs across the South East.

The atmosphere and support amongst the team was brilliant and the group finished with its highest ever points score of 232, since entering the league 8 years ago, resulting in an overall result of fifth out of eight teams on the day.

Everyone chipped in and competed in events they don’t normally train for to help secure more points for the team. Sprinters were jumping and throwing and throwers were jumping and sprinting, averaging a top three finish in the events competed in.

There were exceptional performances from the 4x100m men’s and women’s teams to bring a convincing win in both events.

A special mention must go to Bella Wilson for getting 3rd place Woman Of The Match with her huge personal best of 40.62m in the Hammer throw!

The fourth and final meeting of the season is Saturday 17th August at Crawley where the club is hoping to field an even bigger team. This league is open to athletes in age group U17 and above.

Please reach out to coach James Bridge or Team Manager Nick Purt to register your involvement.

Anyone wishing to make the journey to support or officiate is always welcome.
