Drugs have been seized by town beat officers who arrested a man in Ramsgate.
During yesterday evening of (July 11), officers from the Thanet Community Safety Unit were out on foot patrol in Archway Road when they saw a man riding an e-scooter.
As they approached the man to speak to him, he dropped the e-scooter and ran away. Officers ran after him, stopping him a short time later. A search was carried out, and officers found a number of wraps of suspected crack cocaine. They also seized a mobile phone and cash.
A 48-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply. He currently remains in custody while enquiries are ongoing.
Sounds like the same one that hangs about with someone up Royal Crescent seem him up that way a few times .mind you nothing will happen they are clearing out the prisons on early release as it is . A 2 yr waiting time before court he’ll get off with a slapped wrist and a caution .yet some poor sod has lost a life because of a dodgey drug dealer selling snide drugs .bad enough selling real stuff .
There’s a very similar local case been in the system for well over 2 years, cps , police in a quandry over what to do, they’ll just continue if not locked up, but first time they’ve been caught , alcohol dependent, poor health.
Quite how do you balance prevention of more drug dustribution with the cost of locking someone up who has no intention of changing their ways and will be very problematic in terms of health and addiction when behind bars?
Quite why the authorities don’t clamp down on the scooter/ bike drug deliveries is questionable, it can only be because as you say not much wil happen and it tiesnup too much police time.
I hope the illegal scooter has been crushed !
i hope all illegal scooters get crushed , they are everywhere and the police do nothing , perhaps that will change when someone is killed by one ?
