A new cocktail bar has opened at the site of the former Old Fisheries in Broadstairs.

Delilah’s offers a selection of signature cocktails, as well as a carefully curated range of whiskeys, gins and wine from around the world.

It is the creation of couple Sammie and Bryan Plumb who say they have had “the most amazing reception” since they opened for trade on June 13.

The parents-of-three, who named the bar after their three year old daughter, say the amazing food scene in Broadstairs made them feel it could be just the right place for a cocktail bar.

Sammie, 39, said: “We have lived (in Broadstairs) for four years and been coming here on holiday for around 12 years and we just love it.

“So, we decided to make a permanent move in 2019, just before the pandemic hit, and we have never regretted it for a moment.”

It was after Delilah was born that Sammie and Bryan started to think about opening a venue in the town.

The couple, who run a digital marketing agency, spent some time looking for the perfect place when Bryan found the Old Fisheries in Thanet Road.

Sammie said: “When we went to see the Old Fisheries my husband said ‘I think it’s the one.’ It is a really beautiful old building with a really nice feel to it, and we are fans of old buildings.

“It was an empty shell but had been refurbished so there was no fishiness anymore!

“We got the keys at the end of April and we have been in there all hours, painting, it’s been a real passion project for us. We were involved in every decision and had an amazing team of builders. We had all these ideas and to finally see them come to fruition is amazing.

“Broadstairs has an amazing food scene and we thought it might be the place that would be receptive to somewhere like Delilah’s. We have been to places with a similar vibe across the country and some left an imprint because of the amazing drinks or experience.”

Delilah’s also features a specially designed range of non-alcoholic cocktails, recognising the shift towards an alcohol-free lifestyle for many.

Bryan said: “We’re proud to finally open our doors and share our vision for Delilah’s in Broadstairs. Whether it’s pre- or post-dinner drinks, a date night, or catch up with friends, Delilah’s will become a destination where you can guarantee a warm welcome and a menu that differs from the usual cocktail offering.

“Our mixologists have worked hard to design a menu that uses quality ingredients to create a range of imaginative and delicious cocktails. It’s also been important for us to include a varied selection of interesting non-alcoholic cocktails so that everyone can enjoy our signature Delilah’s style.”

Whilst cocktails will be the mainstay of the venture, there will also be a range of spirits and wines to discover. A self-professed bourbon enthusiast himself, Bryan added: “To be able to showcase some of my favourite whiskeys is really exciting. Similarly, those who enjoy choice when it comes to quality gin and wine will find their happy place here.”

Delilah’s Bar is open from Thursday to Sunday and hours will likely be extended during the busy summer season.
