Ramsgate nursery assistant aiming to take Miss International UK title

Catherine Dekker is a finalist in Miss International UK

A 20-year-old from Ramsgate will be competing for an international pageant title this month.

Catherine Dekker is a finalist in Miss International UK being held on May 18 in Warrington.

Catherine is representing Kent as Miss Kent International 2023/24. She has fundraised some £2000 for A-sisterhood, a UK-based organisation that seeks to empower, support and protect women worldwide.

Annually, they support a series of international causes and charities which are focused on helping women in need.

Catherine has organised and hosted her own charity pageant, Miss Seaside UK, in February which was held in Minster as part of her fundraising. She undertakes charity and community work in Thanet and in the rest of Kent with youth groups, community centres and young people.

She is also an UNWomenUK delegate and is passionate about “gender equality, empowering women and ending poverty.”

As a Project P ambassador she has distributed more than 300 hand-made period packs to women for free.

Catherine said: “I would like to thank everyone for their continued support and love. I am forever grateful for the opportunities I have to help enrich people’s lives, especially women’s.”

Catherine has an Instagram platform, which aims to help young people with tips and tools to improve their mental health, called Keep Moving Forward UK. She is also a freelance model and nursery assistant, and says she enjoys reading, painting and loves to unwind with nature.

The Miss International UK winner will scoop a package of prizes and a trip to compete in the Miss International final in Japan in November.
