Looping the Loop launch first series of Social Singing Sessions

Singing with Looping The Loop

Arts organisation Looping the Loop, known for live performances and community engagement in Thanet, has announced the launch of its Social Singing Sessions.

The initiative, funded by Know Your Neighbourhood to combat social isolation, represents a step in Looping the Loop’s ongoing mission to make artistic experiences accessible to all.

The first series of Social Singing Sessions will start on April 22 at East Kent Mencap with their Getting On With Learning Difficulties (GOLD) members.

By offering a space where individuals can explore their voices without pressure, the sessions are designed to build confidence, reduce stress, and create a sense of belonging among participants.

Fiona Wonford, GOLD Project Manager at East Kent Mencap, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Looping The Loop for their new Social Singing Sessions. We understand the significant impact of singing on well-being, and believe that important initiatives like this can help to combat social isolation and build a stronger sense of belonging in our local community. Our GOLD group can’t wait to start singing!”

Following the East Kent Mencap series, Looping the Loop will broaden its reach, hosting open hybrid sessions that blend the best of online and in-person interactions. In June a series of session will launch in Ramsgate open to all, followed by a September kick off in Birchington.

“It’s about the joy of singing, no pressure, just pleasure,” said Estelle Rosenfeld, producer of the Social Singing Sessions. “Participants are invited to let their natural voices shine, in a setting that values pleasure over perfection. It’s an opportunity to relieve stress, enhance mood, and connect with others in a fun and uplifting environment.”
