Margate Soul Festival has announced the headliners for this summer’s event.

The line-up includes international and homegrown artists such as Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes; Dexter Wansel; Heatwave; House Gospel Choir and Izo Fitzroy.

There will also be a live reggae show featuring Peter Hunnigale, Sandra Cross and Tipper Irie.

The festival’s packed DJ line up includes Brandon Block, Booker T and Derrick Patterson.

This year Margate Soul Festival’s Sunset Stage will move to Newgate Lower Promenade beneath the Lido sign, a location historically used for entertainment. There will also be events at all the usual venues in the Old Town.

The festival will be using eco-generators and low power lighting while also partnering with key environmental charities.

Ticket holders can choose to add a bike rental to their booking via Margate’s social enterprise, The Bike Shed, or pick up the free soul train which will be operating across the festival.

The land train will also make a couple of stops in Margate’s Old Town to enable visitors to access the free and community based stages, bars and restaurants around the Old Town on their way to and from the Sunset Stage.

Margate Soul Festival is delivered in partnership with social enterprise, NewMarGate CIC. To help support the area, £1 per ticket will go back into the local community.

The three day festival brings in 4,000 ticket holders each year and acts as a huge economic driver for the summer season.

This year’s festival runs from August 2-4.

Weekend tickets are £108.90 (£99 + 10% BF) / Day tickets are £60.50 (£55 + 10% BF) / Kids tickets (7-17) are £38.50 (£35 + 10% BF). Margatesoulfestival.co.uk
